Staff -- Dominic Kyrie

Biographical Sketch

Mr. Kyrie (pronounced KEER-ee-ay) began his career as a Computer Scientist at Bell Telephone Laboratories. Upon gaining his undergraduate degree, he received Bell's esteemed "One Year On Campus" award, and gained an MSEE at Stanford. That year, Eta Kappa Nu named him one of the top five electrical engineering students in the United States. Mr. Kyrie's data communications software development work at Bell became part of the first ATM network.

After one year of post-MSEE enrichment in operating systems and IC design at U.C. Berkeley, Kyrie took an opportunity at Hewlett-Packard to become involved in a wide range of challenging, state-of-the-art programs.

Comments by Mr. Kyrie's clients and employers are a testimony to both his outstanding ability and his commitment to excellence:

"He is able to solve a broad range of problems."
"...can translate his technical skills directly into results."
"...is quick to grasp a problem and sort out its central issues."
        "...seeks solutions through good communications."
"...produces work of the highest quality."
"...is dedicated to meeting his commitments."
"When we asked him for X, he gave us 2X."

The following are recommendations from Mr. Kyrie's clients and colleagues:

“Dominic is a very productive and professional software consultant. Self-starter who was able to take on non-standard task and deliver in timely manner. I recommend him highly.”

“Dominic and I worked in the firmware, systems and application area for external hard disk, a flagship product of Maxtor. Dominic is an extremely seasoned hi tech engineer. When we were doing prototyping for network attached and locally attached external hard disk, his attention to detail and thorough design made the prototypes almost seamless to get to the production environments. He is very proficient in both Linux and Windows when it comes to low-level, highly reliable, and highly efficient firmware/software design. His approach to the problems was very classic, and the results extremely satisfying. He is also a very good team player. I would definitely like to work with him again in the future.”

“I have worked with Dominic on a variety of projects ranging from the design and development of new products, conducting software design reviews, to assisting in troubleshooting very challenging technical problems. I especially appreciate his disciplined approach to software development, and his remarkable ability to “find the bugs” in proposed design concepts, which not only results in very high quality final software products (by design vs. by extensive testing and bug fixing cycles), but also in shorter product development times.”

“Dominic’s background includes firmware design and coding for embedded systems, Electrical Engineering theory and circuitry, and medical and life science product development experience in an FDA regulated environment. This combination made him particularly effective when I managed his work for a portable medical device development that involved instrumentation and real-time control. Top qualities: Great Results, On Time, High Integrity

“Exceptional attention to detail, pride in workmanship, thoroughness and professionalism. Dom is one of the most disciplined and creative engineers I've worked with. He also has an ability to teach himself new skills, and in a short amount of time become expert.”

"Dominic and I worked together at Bells Labs at a time when many firsts in communications were being developed. Our department produced the first packet switch, the first computer generated animation and the first all digital hierarchical network. Dom was one of the bright shining stars in the group. He was energetic, a team player and very smart. (You don't get an MSEE from Stanford unless you know your stuff). It was a real pleasure to work with Dom and I wish him the very best."

“I knew Dominic in his "younger" days when we were both at Bell Laboratories. Dominic was a systems engineer in an organization that was planning a large scale data network. Dominic had superior analytic skills for a young engineer. He could be counted on to deliver high quality work, and worked well as part of a larger team.”

"Dominic and I were both Members of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, and worked on the Transaction Network System, a project that became the communications industry's first ATM network. Among other key aspects of the project, Dominic was responsible for much of the design and development of the communcations protocol, and worked closely with me in the engineering of the administrative software suite for which I was primarily responsible. Dominic is a first rate engineer who knows how to work collaboratively with teammates, providing guidance, mentorship and support in pursuit of a common goal. I heartily endorse Dominic in any professional endeavor for which he is being considered.”

“Since our freshman year of college, I have always been impressed with the depth of Dom's understanding and the breadth of his interests. The combination of depth and breadth has led Dom to significantly innovative solutions to problems, both as a student and as a professional. Complementing Dom's understanding and broad experience, his retention of information and attention to detail have made him an extraordinary engineer. If I had a suitable need and opportunity, I'd hire him in a heartbeat.”
